5 Reasons why a wedding photo and video team is the best choice for you and your guests

When you're looking for a photographer and a videographer, there's so much choice out there. From styles to approach, to whether you vibe with them and everything in between.

So why is a photo and video team the way to go? Here are 5 reasons why a photo and video team not only makes it an effortless experience for both of you, but also why it is important for your guests.

  • We work closely together on the day, valuing each other's jobs - this means that when Calum is filming the ceremony and speeches, I make a conscious effort to avoid getting in his shot. When you don't work in a team, that doesn't always happen. You might get the photographer walking across. Our photos and films are one product we deliver together, so we help each other out throughout the day, whether it's Calum helping with group photos or I'm micing people up for speeches. This, in turn, also ensures that your wedding day runs more smoothly.

  • Having a team that works together means your guests will not feel overwhelmed. When you have a photographer and videographer working separately, sometimes their approaches on the wedding day are opposite. One might be more hands-off, while the other might be more staged. This can mean it takes much longer for your guests to settle around 2 (or more) people with cameras, which in turn reduces the authentic elements that could be captured on your day. We work in line with each other, talking to guests and making them feel relaxed. We aim to be disarming so your guests can be themselves, which ultimately allows us to capture the authentic and raw moments of the day. Calum, especially, is a low-key videographer, which means he doesn't force or stage moments. We both know how to read a room full of people, and make sure to take time to chat to guests if it's taking people longer to warm to two cameras in their space. It's important that we work within your day and everyone there.

  • We are a couple, a married team, which means we communicate really well together throughout the day to make sure we aren't taking up too much of your time. A wedding day goes by fast (even for us), so we streamline group portraits and our couples portraits are typically split into 2 sections in the day, so we're never taking you away for 45 minutes. We work together at home and at weddings, so we've already spoken to you and to each other about your wedding day and run through our approach on your day. One of our couples recently said:

“Alex and Calum work together so naturally that the whole experience felt fun, relaxed, and effortless. It was easy to just go with the flow and trust them throughout the day.”

To us, we must make it easy for you and fun, whilst you feel you can trust what we do.

Our photos and videos are in a similar style and delivered together. This means that you get everything together on one gallery, where you can view and share. It's important that our work feels cohesive together, even if we've captured things at different angles (and sometimes that's quite interesting)! You get the full experience of your wedding gallery captured in every capacity. This is even more so for couples that opt for full footage with Calum, which is everything he's filmed in one film (besides the cinematic film, ceremony and speeches already offered).

  • We are not a hybrid team - that means that we don't shoot a bit of both. We are a fully fledged photographer (Alexandra) and a fully fledged videographer (Calum). We both set ourselves pretty high standards for our jobs and always aim to produce really high-quality work for our couples. Some photo & video teams shoot hybrid and we personally feel this might mean things get missed. With us, you get a full, devoted, individual photographer and videographer within a strong team that works perfectly in sync, together. One of our couples said:

“They clearly have a passion for what they do and delivering what their clients want.”

Which is absolutely spot on. We absolutely care about each of our roles, and what the other produces to give you photos and videos that are in sync together and represent your day authentically.

So that's a little insight into why a wedding photo and video team (especially a married team) is a perfect choice for capturing your wedding effortlessly without missing a thing. We absolutely love what we do and working together. We will both work with you and your wedding day vision, making sure we've captured your wedding in a way that reflects you as a couple.
